JAH Realty (“JAH”) sold an 85-lot townhome development project to Mattamy Group Corporation (“Mattamy Homes”), North America’s largest family-owned homebuilder. The development will have amenities that include a central park, dog park, and walking trails in a gated community adjacent to 170,000 square feet of retail and restaurants in Lake Highlands Village which will continue to be owned by JAH Realty. The townhomes will be approximately 2,000 square feet in a three-story format with private garages. Lake Highlands Village is anchored by Tom Thumb and encompasses five separate buildings between Skillman Street, Audelia Road and Royal Lane.
In 2019, JAH Realty acquired several properties adjacent to its shopping center and initiated design and entitlement efforts in order to create a mixed-use environment at Lake Highlands Village. Graham Irvine, JAH Realty’s Chief Investment Officer, spearheaded the efforts which included the real estate acquisitions, obtaining entitlements for townhomes, partial demolition of the shopping center, re-platting for individual lots, and designing and permitting the development. As a part of this transaction, JAH Realty has been retained by Mattamy Homes to oversee the horizontal lot development at Lake Highlands Village. “The timing of this development dovetails with the completion of the I-635 expansion and new interchange/bridge at I-635 & Skillman Road,” said Irvine. “As a result, this project will create a fantastic mixed-use entrance for the Lake Highlands community.”
